Pinocchio: My Puppet Pal Worcester Theatre reviews
Excellent Music, Terrible Seats
I get it, we weren't fast enough to get killer seats. Other concerts I've been to project video from the stage, either on the giant screens in the arena or from a back drop behind the stage. The music was great! The bands were great! But the best concerts are the ones that are considerate to all the fans, from the front of the stage to the back of the Arena. I paid $500 to watch tiny people rocking out from a mile away. Not so at the Amalie. Terribly disappointing. But I won't be taking in any more concerts at the Amalie. I'll stick to shows at the MFCU Amphitheater from now on. At least there, even the lawn seats get a piece of the action.
Cats
We were visited by a cat with glowing yellow eyes when the musical started, and my two grandchildren were immediately excited by the set decorations. The talent of the dancer/singers was amazing, and the production was magical. Mr Mistoffelees paid my grandson a visit after his performance. What a treat! It was the first time for all of us to see this production, even Nana who wore out her tape at the original release date and never made it to the theater. I took my two grandchildren as a surprise birthday present for my eight year old grandson and his five and one half year old sister. We give this 5 Meow stars!
Usher with Trey Songs
In my opinion, Usher seemed a little out of sorts and disconnected from the audience. I have been a fan of Usher from the beginning. He really did not connect with us. His movements were not good after his first number, and he seemed lazy, out of breath, as if he was not giving it his all and only half way performing. He did have the dancers to hold him up, and it made the performance. Pinocchio could have performed after Trey because he connected so much better with the audience and had no extras, it was just him, but I felt a connection with him, and an honesty with his performance. Again, I am an Usher fan so do not get me wrong. But something was missing from this performance, his vocals were better than some of the performances I had seen on TV lately, I have to admit, but there were some tracks, and a lot of dancing with half ass moves, and he just seemed really, really worn down. I am sure there was a show the night before, so may be there was a lack of rest. There were good places but a disconnection, and I just felt like something was missing, it was not like previous concerts where I left feeling like it was an awesome concert or even the concerts that have been shown on TV. There were portions that were good, but as a whole, it was not his best. I feel Trey Songs could have headlined this show. I have to give it to Trey but I am still an Usher fan, but a little disappointed in his performance.
Def Leppard
"Joe Elliot ever said they were the best band cover of Pinocchio in the world. And right he was."
